Interfaith Committee Report

August, 2005

The Interfaith Committee will enjoy a conference in Las Vegas, Nevada August 12th – 16th. We’ll be working together cooking a delicious meal for all of the conference attendees. I have asked David Nelson, who is on the board of the Kansas City Interfaith Council, to speak on a panel at the Las Vegas conference and he has agreed.

We are co-sponsoring with the Urantia Foundation, two youths for this Interfaith conference. They are Tamara Wood of Chicago and Amee Majors of Idaho. Ashlee Piece of Utah will also be joining us but not as a sponsored youth. The intent is to help create a strong youth force in the arena of Interfaith that we will endeavor to support.

I have approached the above youth and asked them to join in our conference calls, meet with us, and work to define their own path for Interfaith work. And if they find this work a rewarding path, to  join us on our committee or as adjuncts. I have promised them our support in their creativity, energy, and individuality. Our goal is to get the youth moving with us in their own way.

Peter Lawrence has agreed to join the committee, replacing Richard Omura. Peter has decades of experience in Interfaith, helping found NAIN (National Alliance Interfaith Network). His experience will enhance this committee and he will be a strong personality in our work. He is currently speaking and facilitating workshops in different areas of the country.

This committee is working to define itself, as a group, and as individuals.

Gene Narducy is working on a video concept of stories in the Urantia Book.

Charlene Morrow is focusing on book fairs at Interfaith Events.

Peter Lawrence is sharing his work, “Beyond Interfaith.”

I’m working on Interfaith Conferences.

I have met with the Kansas City Interfaith Council and have asked to work with them promoting conferences together. There is a strong possibility Kansas City will host the 2009 NAIN conference and I have asked them to begin working with me to make it a reality. I am also working with William Jewell College to host Interfaith/Urantia sponsored events. It is a beautiful campus and affordable.

We’re growing into a strong committee; I’m encouraged by the interest and enthusiasm of the youth. This is definitely a focus I’ll continue to pursue.
