Education Committee Report Jan 08’
Education Committee member Lila Dogim, recently had a great idea to create questions to help stimulate informative, philosophical, theological and topical study from the UB to socadmin members. We will periodically (approximately every 3 to 4 weeks) put out a new question. Posted earlier this month was our first one:
Question 1
We are familiar with the quotes below:
186:2.3 ….Although Jesus lived and died on Urantia, his whole human career, from first to last, was a spectacle designed to influence and instruct the entire universe of his creation and unceasing upholding.
129:3.6 It will also always be helpful in understanding Jesus' life on earth if all mortal students of this divine bestowal will remember that, while he lived this life of incarnation on Urantia, he lived it for his entire universe.
What do the authors mean by the last quote? How will we better understand the meaning of Jesus’ life by knowing that he lived it for the whole universe?
141:7.7 The Master was teaching these apostles the essentials of truth for an entire age on earth. They often listened to his teachings when in reality what he said was intended for the inspiration and edification of other worlds.
Can we discern which teaching was intended for other worlds?
We haven’t had much response yet, but are planning to continue.
Our committee does not have a Summer Study this coming summer, so we’ve been concentrating our efforts on the curriculum of training presenters. David Holt is presently looking into Jesus’ ways of teaching and training. We have also discussed the possibility of making Jesus’ approach, a topical study group project with one or more groups. Katharina Becker (a professional educator) is presently working through the curriculum that was created by the original Urantia Brotherhood School. Her findings will determine what has become outdated and what still may be of use to us today. Our present work will be on display at IC08’.
The venue for Summer Study for 09’ has not yet been determined, but our topical study/or theme will reflect our present findings. Summer Study 09’ workshops will concentrate on methods and new ways of training our community.
Respectfully submitted,
