Committee Chair Conference Call, May 2006

The purpose of this conference call, and calls going forward, are to build
relationship with one another and work collaboratively. We can do more work as a
tight group rather than working in silos.

Present: Bob Bruyn, Linda Buselli, Susan Cook, Doreen Heyne, Larry Geis, David
Kantor

Committee Chair meeting Our plan going forward is to communicate once a month
and meet after the mid-year meeting for a retreat. We will also meet before the
October budget meeting for planning purposes. An agreed upon goal is to develop
relationship, learn to communicate with one another, and practice collaborative
working planning sessions.

Following are high level reports from each committee chair

Robert Burns:

The finance committee has been cooperating with the Publications committee to
get solicitations out. This medium has worked very well. Finance committee has
plans to further their solicitations by committing to send the mp3 version of
the UB to every member in our movement (free) with a strong solicitation request
followed up with personal phone calls to every member who has not made a
donation in one year’s time.
Every one that has made a donation is getting a personalize email from Robert.
In addition, the Finance committee members are making calls to members who have
not made a donation in the year.
In 2007, a goal is to get 1000 members into the Auto Debit Supporters Club and
contribute at least $20 or more a month.
Susan Cook

Interfaith Committee meets together 4 times a year for the purpose of designed
workshop material that speaks to all faiths and cultures. The material comes
directly from the Urantia Book and universal concepts are extracted for
workshops. The Interfaith committee has no plan to recruit or convert people
away from their faith but rather to offer our revelation as a supplement. We
want to be visible at conferences of all faiths, to be a presence, and become
integrated and non-threatening. We want to facilitate workshops in a
professional, knowledgeable manner that shows us to be spirituality attractive.

David Kantor:

International is working with a diverse religious audiences and zeroing in on
getting books out, trying to stay focused on getting the book out to many
different countries. The goal for the next few years is to meet with groups of
readers who have been isolated. IC is experimenting, meeting people who are
local leaders and getting books in their hands. In turn, these leaders go into
their local communities and spread the word. It's working in Latin America and
getting people involved.
The IC is also fostering local, regional and independent development
encouraging them to be self-supporting. They are starting to do more training.
They are planning to write basic introductory material that is written in the
context of the culture and language of the people they are training. Need DVD's,
brochures, printing and publications. Need education and , but in the language.
Spiritual vitamins very successful. Website is crossing over. We need more
long range planning. Susan will have at IC08 a special communication room.
There are many needs to be filled. The IC has and is doing, long range
planning!
Larry Geis

Special Projects has committed to assist the Finance committee make calls to
thank donors. SP will be helping other committees with specific tasks that are
asked of them.
Bob Bruyn

Communication is key. Communication via material is the direction Membership is
going. How can we respond to people who have joined? We can send out Auto
responders, reference materials or reference to a certain site on the web (or
people who do not have electronic means we can send via mail information for new
members).
A comment on the overall idea of us working together. A retreat should be
planned with a specific purpose for integration; we need to stop working in
silos. The October retreat before budget needs to be a planning retreat.

Linda Buselli

Publications job is to promote committee work. Publications is finally getting
plenty of articles. There are 3 publications a year and we can use it for our
committee communication. Publications would like to do 2 Heralds a year. Send
your stories, we will print!

David Kantor made a suggestion that Publications become involved in promotional
materials for the International Committee, David pointed out that these
materials need to be printed in foreign languages and be sensitive to local
cultural traditions, and it is Linda'a opinion that this is the function of the
International Committee.

Linda mentioned that she has repeatedly asked for articles written by our
foreign readers, perhaps submitted by presenters at the Latin American
conferences and others. Publications is also trying to aid International by
highlighting the activities of foreign readers and groups on a regular basis
in the Mighty Messenger.

A suggestion was made that we need a Public Relations Committee/Ad Hoc
Committee.

GC - how do we empower the GC as a board that decides the directions the
organization takes and the EC has the task of making it happen? How do we
empower the GC with the task and help them with the responsibility?

IC08 – Communication will be sent out to the community on service opportunities.
The idea is to get them involved before the conference. At the conference,
booths will be set up for the EC/GC to man to get more volunteers.

Calling for volunteers - When we call, readers are so excited. Create a phone
tree for service. We need to get out there and talk with them.
