WORKING GROUP ON WEBSITE CONTENT

REPORT TO THE GENERAL COUNCIL

The initial Website Content Committee that gave its report to the General Council last January has completed its work of analyzing the current status of the website.  A new working group has been constituted to take the committee’s recommendations to the next step by developing a revised design for the site.  Members of this new group are Peter Laurence, chair; Susan Cook, Steve Dreier, David Kantor and Paula Thompson.

The group began its work in late May.  To date it has explored some philosophical issues and has gone on to consider initial proposals for a revised structure for the site.  The process that we are following is to look at structure first, then content and finally aesthetics.  We have been communicating via e-mail and expect to hold periodic conference calls and occasional face-to-face working sessions.

At this point we have not had sufficient time to reach any conclusions that might be reported.  We will continue to develop our ideas and would expect to have a much more definitive report for the next General Council meeting.
