"Worship—contemplation of the spiritual—must alternate with service, contact with material reality.
Work should alternate with play; religion should be balanced by humor.

Profound philosophy should be relieved by rhythmic poetry.
The strain of living—the time tension of personality—should be relaxed by the restfulness of worship.

The feelings of insecurity arising from the fear of personality isolation in the universe
should be antidoted by the faith contemplation of the Father
and by the attempted realization of the Supreme."

The Urantia Book, 143:7.3

Chris Halvorson Answers a Question

Question:

It's my understanding that Paper 119 is the final paper of the fifth epochal revelation (FER)--that the revelators had completed their work at that point, and that it was somewhat later that the Jesus papers were given as an update and amplification to what was known about him. So, we have the FER and an update to the understanding of the fourth epochal revelation, combined into one book.  I've found that many readers of the UB are emphatic that The Urantia Book itself is the FER and are not willing to make the distinction that the book is two revelations combined, with the fifth being contained in Parts I-III.

Chris Halvorson Comments:

To be precise, the fifth epochal revelation is "The Urantia Papers" (see 92:4.9), and "The Urantia Book" is the title of a book that contains a typeset version of those papers, along with nonrevelatory material such as the table of contents.

Regarding the distinction of Part IV from Parts I, II, and III, it is a fact that two of the three revelatory commissions had finished their work with the completion of the first three parts of the revelation. However, these superuniverse and local universe commissions did not complete that work until long after A.D. 1935, as is evidenced by the use of human source works from the 1940s.  All of the papers in Part IV were first received from the third revelatory commission in 1935.

One aspect of the work of the planetary revelatory commission in Part IV was to coordinate and restate the essential knowledge of the fourth epochal revelation, Jesus of Nazareth.  However, they also built upon that foundation and revealed truth and coordinated essential knowledge directly as a part of the fifth epochal revelation.  For example, the second revelatory commission refers to the work of the third commission,
in both 32:2.13 and 77:9.9, as an essential part of the revelation.

"To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded."
