Annual Report of the Family Life Committee

July 2006

The Family Life Committe has not been active this past year since last summer's conference. We participated in helping with the youth program at the conference under the guidance and participation of Karen Franklin, Wendy Anderson, Bill Rocap and Fred Harris. I heard many good reports on the youth activities of the conference and the Jerusalem Marketplace set up by Wendy and her husband.

Most of the Family Life Budget for this year is going to help Wendy set up Jerusalem Marketplaces in Alaska. Both Karen and Wendy have expressed an interest in working on/with the Family Life Committee. I am looking to mentor this interest, and to help revision the mission of the Family Life Committee.

Even though I have resigned from the council due to my job demands and those of taking care of my mother, I still have a major interest in continuing the Family Life Committee, but it needs to be revisioned. If there are any on the council who are especially interested, please contact me so we can reform a viable ad hoc committee dedicated to working with parents who read The Urantia Book to guide their children in the truths of the revelation.

If you are interested in working to revision/reformulate Family Life please contact me at blackstocksara@yahoo.com. If there is anyone you know who is interested in the intertwined realm of families and our revelation, please have them contact me. If there is anyone on the council who would like to become coordinator of this area, I would willingly give way to new energy and new ideas. I feel so used up by my demanding job, that there is little in me, even for an area I love and feel devoted to.

The Young Adults have not been part of the Family Life Committee. There needs to be a separate Young Adult organization perhaps. I had hoped this would have come about through SOAP, and perhaps it will. I do not know the status of the organization formed after SOAP. Perhaps Thomas Orjala can fill the council in if there is anything happening with the Young Adult realm. I know he has established a very successful Cosmic Cafe hosting many young adults in Idaho.

Thank you again for all of the years of support you have given me as I have been encouraged to pursue my interest in family. I am far from being done with this realm, just taking a different tack in beginning to compile my 40 years of experience working with children, which I hope will be of service to families of our revelation.

I do hope to hear from one or more of you regarding interest in helping me revision and reformulate the Family Life Committee.

God bless each of you for your ongoing dedication.

In the work of the kingdom,

Sara Blackstock
Chair, Family Life Committee
