Chicago, Illinois 60614Dear Executive Committee Member,
At its annual meeting on May 12, 1990, the Urantia Society of Central Connecticut passed a motion:
1. To express our confidence in and support for the actions of the Executive Committee and the General Council of Fifth Epochal Fellowship.
2. To state our belief in the supreme value of the ideal of spiritual unity.
3. To request that the Fellowship appeal to the Foundation for peace negotiations on the condition that they first dissolve Urantia Brotherhood Association; and that copies of these appeals be mailed to all known readers.
Revealed knowledge without spiritual unity is no more than an inspired philosophy, and philosophy, alone, does not lead to the kingdom of heaven. Spiritual unity is the touchstone of true spiritual brotherhood. It has supreme value because it is the family attitude of the children of the Father. It mandates us to show undeserved fairness and unexpected kindness to return good for evil.
Though this ideal urges us to go the second mile, wisdom does not permit us to ignore the Foundation's disregard for it. The creation of the Association was a declaration of spiritual war. The Association is the sign of the Foundation's disesteem for the ideal of spiritual unity.
The Foundation's attempted dissipation of those loyal to this revelation should not be suffered to pass quietly by in the darkness. Our appeals for peace and unity should be copied to all readers. They would then have additional information on the fundamental value choices which underlie this situation.
The possible effectiveness of such appeals is not the primary issue. The cardinal concern is to act with spiritual integrity and with faith in the ultimate triumph of divine values. May we find that deeper faith which will carry us successfully through these times of dismay. And let us recall that the Most Highs rule in the kingdoms of men.
Sincerely,
George L. Park, President for the members of USCC
