Dear Avi:

We hope that we are able to meet in April, as outlined in our letter of January 12, 2001, to discuss the outworking of the Fifth Epochal Revelation.

We believe the only way we can put aside our legal disagreements in advance of that meeting is to have a face-to-face dialogue between the negotiating teams to resolve the copyright and trademark infringements by the Fellowship.  Both sides need to have full authority to resolve these issues at the meeting.  In order to accomplish that, all five trustees would attend the meeting with the Foundation's negotiating team.  As you know, Steve Hill is a member of our negotiating team.  We believe Ross Plourde needs to attend as well.

We wanted to send this letter to you so you would have it before your meeting next weekend.  We would like you to respond to this letter no later than Friday, February 9, 2001.  And no later than Friday, February 16, 2001, we would like to select a mutually agreeable date in March, and a mutually agreeable location in Chicago, for this meeting.  This timing will permit all participants to make reasonable travel arrangements.  We suggest a two-day, weekend meeting.

We also need to make clear our deep concerns about the lack of any tangible fruits from the negotiations thus far.  We have alerted you in the past to the possibility that the Foundation would take decisive action against the Fellowship's trademark and copyright infringements.  The Foundation has held off, for well over a year, in the hope that we could reach an agreed resolution of these matters.  Rest assured that we continue to hope and pray for this.  However, the Fellowship's actions, represented by the serious nature of both the continuing and the ADDED infringements that have appeared on the Fellowship’s website since our negotiating teams met last April, have led us to conclude that if you are not willing to agree to a meeting as we are requesting here, the Foundation needs to take action to stop these infringements.  Having said that, we desire to make it clear that even if the Foundation is forced to take such action, it will not signal an end to our willingness to negotiate.  We want very much to resolve these issues in a positive way so that our talks in April will be as productive as possible.

In the continuing hope for future teamwork,

Trustees of Urantia Foundation
