Orvonton Urantia Society Letter of Support
to Tom
Kendall at time of his dismissal as a Trustee
Orvonton Urantia Society of Chicago
Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.February 22, 1984
Mr. Thomas A. Kendall
1400 W. Salvington Place
Wheeling, IL 60090Dear Tom:
Our Society received a letter informing us of your dismissal as a Trustee of Urantia Foundation. At a recent meeting of our Governing Committee, we decided to discuss this situation. However, we soon found ourselves unable to properly assess the situation because the Foundation has not offered any explanation for its action. However, we were able to assess our knowledge of you as a person and as a Trustee.
We believe that you have been a dedicated and loyal supporter of the teachings of The Urantia Book, that you have striven to uphold the highest ideals and values taught in The Urantia Book, and that you have proven yourself to be a man of great integrity.
In your position as a trustee, we have observed that you have been a loyal and dedicated supporter of Urantia Foundation; that you have been an outstanding ambassador for the Foundation by your openmindedness, accessibility and calmness in times of conflict; and that you have given unselfishly of yourself in the many hours you ahve listened to the dreams and complaints of so many Urantia Book readers. After over twenty years of such service, we can only respond with great puzzlement and dismay as to why the Foundation has chosen to dismiss you.
We hope and strongly encourage you to continue and increase your work in Urantia Brotherhood so that the qualities you have shown will not be lost to the movement.
As a former member of our Society and as a personal acquaintance of the members of our Governing Committee, we take a special pride in saying thank you very much for your years of service as a Trustee.
We look forward to continuing to work with you in Urantia Brotherhood and to continuing to enjoy your fellowship.
Warmest regards,
C. A. Van Vreede
President
