The Urantia Book Fellowship is opening a job position for a consultant to coordinate international Urantia Book activities in Latin America, specifically in Central and South America, (including Puerto Rico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic ) as well as in Spanish speaking communities of North America.

This is a part-time position—20 hours per week—as a consultant for the International Fellowship Committee of the Urantia Book Fellowship, a non-profit spiritual organization dedicated to the worldwide dissemination of the Urantia Book.

Job Description 

Spanish Readers Services Consultant to International Fellowship Committee
(referred to herein as SRS)   8-19-2007         

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1. This position guide will define the scope of work, objectives and purpose of the SRS.

2. FUNCTIONAL ROLE

2.1. The role of the Spanish Readers Services Consultant is to coordinate international Urantia Book activities in Latin America, specifically in Central and South America (to include Puerto Rico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic) as well as in Spanish speaking communities of North America where Spanish is spoken and read.

2.2. Maintain Spanish language website and respond to email inquiries and other correspondences.

2.3. Part-Time job – 20 hours per week as a consultant for the International Fellowship Committee of the Urantia Book Fellowship, a non-profit spiritual organization dedicated to the worldwide dissemination of the Urantia Book.

 

3.REQUIREMENTS

3.1. Multi-lingual and multi-cultural experience working with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds and ages.

3.2. Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word or other commonly used software programs. Experienced with internet for e-mail correspondence and use of web site for related job activities.

3.3. Must have read either The Urantia Book or El Libro de Urantia, and preferably both.

3.4. Must be a citizen in good standing in his/her country, have a valid passport, and able to obtain visas.

3.5. Must have good public speaking and organizational skills.

3.6. Preferred Education: 4-year degree from a credible college.

3.7. Skills, knowledge, and abilities: Administrative ability and budget assessment knowledge when managing and developing programs. 

3.8. Reasoning Ability: The position requires the self-assurance of dedication and to faithfully perform the duties with a direct and personal approach to each situation that exhibits stalwart courage while maintaining the practical trust and confidence with all concerned.  Sincerity, fairness and intelligent optimism are to be blended in the hard decisions required to assist in the growth of the Spanish speaking community.

3.9.Language Skills: Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish and English, including reading, writing and speaking.  A working knowledge of Portuguese would be a plus.  

 

4. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

4.1. The SRS reports directly to the Chair of the International Fellowship Committee.

4.2. The SRS reports on Spanish website activity.

4.3. The SRS will coordinate with the Office Director and International Fellowship committee and provide receipts for all reimbursable expenses, except salary.

4.4. The SRS will coordinate with other Urantia groups in Spanish speaking communities.

 

5. AUTHORITY

5.1. To coordinate regional leaders and promote the development of financially responsible tax-free organizations.

5.2. To order Books, supplies, and travel within budget.

5.3. To represent The Urantia Book Fellowship, its goals and values.

 

6. RESPONSIBILITIES

6.1. Develop and support awareness of the Urantia teachings in Spanish speaking communities.

6.2. Develop and increase number of readers and reader group in Spanish speaking communities.

6.3. Develop study groups in Spanish speaking communities.

6.4. Support and participate in conferences and events in Spanish speaking communities.

6.5. Facilitate marketing and sales of Urantia related materials.

 

7. PRINCIPLE DUTIES

7.1. Coordinate and support Spanish speaking study groups.

7.2. Update Spanish language website, and direct email and all inquiries to appropriate resources.

7.3. Regularly update Spanish reader data base.

7.4. Submit quarterly reports of accomplishments and upcoming activities.

7.5. Attend conferences or events that pertain to the dissemination of El Libro de Urantia.

7.6. Present, give speeches and Power Point presentations to interested groups.

7.7. Assist in production, marketing and sales efforts of El Libro de Urantia in book, audio and electronic formats, and assist in translation needs of the Urantia Book Fellowship.

7.8. Submit copies of newspaper articles, radio interviews, etc. quarterly.

8. STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

8.1. Consultant will submit quarterly reports to the chairperson of the International Fellowship Committee and be assessed at an annual job review on the above mentioned job requirements, with special emphasis on the following:

8.1.1. Database properly maintained.

8.1.2. Quarterly, semi-annual or yearly goals attained as set forth by the International Committee for:

8.1.2.1.       Conferences.

8.1.2.2.       New Study Groups.

8.1.2.3.       Growth of  readers in the database.

8.1.3. All computer and paper procedures followed properly.

8.1.4. Expenses kept within budgets.

8.1.5. All policies, and procedures described in this Position Guides implemented and followed.
