Urantia BROTHERHOOD BULLETIN Plans have now been finalized for our 4th summer study session, to be held at 533 Diversey Parkway, Chicago on August 1 and 2, 1969. The theme this year will be "The Sermons and Discourses of Jesus." In our Wednesday night studies in Chicago during the past year we have discovered hidden depths and new meanings as we concentrated on the study of the words of Jesus. Apparently, as we read Part IV of the Urantia Book we become so engrossed in the story of Jesus' many experiences that we overlook some of the real messages included in his remarks and sermons to his apostles and followers. We hope that this type of program will be of interest and have great value for all who will be attending the study session. Enclosed is a registration form, a program, and a list of hotels in the neighborhood. We suggest making your hotel reservations in advance and sending a deposit to insure their holding the room. If you are planning to attend this session and have not yet sent in your registration, we would appreciate it very much if you would do so immediately. If you discover later that you cannot be present, your registration can be canceled and any fees paid will be refunded. It is most important that we have an accurate count as soon as possible on how many will be here, for material is being prepared in advance. The question of how much space we will need is also vital. We have already received registrations for this session from many old friends as well as from some who will be coming for the first time, and we look forward to meeting with Urantians from all parts of the country during this get-together. The following societies have reported the election of new officers: first Urantia Society: Arthur M. Burch, President; Miss E.L. Christensen, Vice President; Mrs. Lillian Wallin, secretary; Mrs. Helen Carlson, Treasurer. Orvonton Urantia Society of Chicago: Alfred Leverenz, President; Mrs. Olga Unverzagt, Vice President; Mrs. Mary Sgaraglino, secretary; Frank Sgarglino, Treasurer. The Executive Committee of the Urantia Brotherhood is happy to announce its approval of another member-at-large: Dr. Robert J. Carlyle, New York City. The Urantia Brotherhood School is again planning two 9-week seminar sessions, the first one starting in October and going into December. A reminder to all General Councilors: The General Council of the Urantia Brotherhood will meet at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, August 3, at Urantia Headquarters. Formal notice to councilors will follow shortly. Jesus' birthday falls on Thursday, August 21, and our traditional celebration will take place at 533 Diversey Parkway at 8:00 p.m. If you care to bring some friends they are very welcome. LMS |
