It is high time that man had a religious experience so personal and so sublime that it could be realized and expressed only by “feelings that lie too deep for words.”
Did that move you? It did me. I found it in The Urantia Book. The truth should so illuminate your heart that you would readily accept it from whatever source. The Urantia Book is a religious revelation of epochal significance to our planet. This collection of papers coordinates both science and religion with the truth of reality. It provides a coordinated and unbroken explanation of both science and religion.
Based upon my personal religious experiences and guided by the truths revealed in The Urantia Book I offer the following insights:
- Those who know God have experienced the fact of his presence.
- Such God-knowing mortals hold in their personal experience the only positive proof of the existence of the living God which one human being can offer to another.
- The experience of faith is the assurance of God-consciousness.
The Urantia Book is the desire of truth seekers of all ages. This epochal revelation of Truth derives its authority from the fruits of its acceptance in the hearts of those individuals who choose to accept these truths based upon the leading of the divine fragment that indwells each of us and guided by the spirit of truth. It reveals the origin and destiny of man and everything in-between, our relationship to the cosmos and our Universal Father, a detailed description of the origin and history of this planet, and our ascension career. The papers culminate in a restatement of the life and teachings of Jesus the likes of which you have never seen before -- every single year of his life, before he was incarnated to after he was crucified.
Pause to consider the following truths revealed in The Urantia Book: Being finite evolutionary free will creatures makes it impossible for us to fully and completely understand God, the infinite being. Although God has superhuman qualities such as omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience and other divine attributes, it does not lessen the fact that he is a personal loving father to each and every one of us. The Father idea is the highest human concept of God we have.
Among the many attributes of God love is second to none. Love is the desire to do good to others. If we desire to do good to others then we desire to do the Father’s will.
God, our Universal Father bestowed upon each and every one of us our own unique and individual personality along with giving us free will within our own mind domain. God, the first source and center of all things, has also bestowed within us a fragment of himself. This divine fragment that indwells our mind is not our mind; it is not our personality; and it is not our conscience. It is pre-mind, pre-personal and super-conscious. We must choose with our own free will to become God-like, to become perfect as a creature as God is perfect as creator. To the extent that we desire to become God-like and desire to do the Father’s will, it is to that extent that this divine fragment can give us insight of a spiritual nature and cosmic meaning.
God, our Heavenly Father, has made available to us a divine plan. We have the opportunity, potential and capacity to ascend all the way to where God personally resides. If we accept this ascension career, this divine plan, and desire to do the Father’s will, upon mortal death we will receive another form on another sphere. It will be more than the material flesh and blood that we have now but it will be less than a spiritual form. Our personality will survive and indwell this new form along with the divine fragment that is in us now, which is what makes it possible for us to survive mortal death and is what sets us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom. Everything that we have experienced that is of survival value, which is the soul, will also indwell this new form along with our memory.
Nothing can take the place of experience. The only thing that we gain from death itself is the fact that we experience survival. There are no short cuts. What we do not learn here we must learn sooner or later.
If we reject this ascension career, this divine plan, and make a knowing and conscious decision not to do the Father’s will, upon mortal death the personality will not survive. We will cease to exist and be as if we never were. I am not referring to those who are ignorant or those who have sincere and honest doubts. Since anything of survival value is never lost, whatever that personality experienced that was worthwhile (which consists of truth, beauty and goodness) will be absorbed into the oversoul of creation, the Supreme Being.
Once we recognize our personal status as a truly loved child of God, our Spirit Father, we will become increasingly aware that we are all spiritual brothers and sisters. Having found God within ourselves, we cannot help but go forth sharing the Father’s love with our spiritual family. The personal teachings and life example of Jesus of Nazareth as restated in The Urantia Book inspires us to share his religious faith and enter into the spirit of the Master’s life of unselfish service for humankind.
There indwells within our heart the Spirit of Truth that Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of Man and Son of God, has bestowed upon us. This Spirit of Truth, also known as the comforter, will validate so that we can recognize in our mind that these truths are of a spiritual origin. Once we discern that these truths are of a spiritual origin we still must choose with our own free will either to accept or reject them. To the extent that we accept these truths and desire to do the Father’s will, to that extent we are in harmony with the universe and our Universal Father.
The religious challenge of this day and age is to those far seeing and forward-looking men and women of spiritual insight who would dare to construct a new and appealing religious philosophy of living out of the enlarged and exquisitely integrated modern concepts of cosmic truth, universal beauty and divine goodness revealed in The Urantia Book.
Individuals of all faiths should become familiar with the truths revealed in The Urantia Book to discern if these are of any value. Will it bring you closer to God and God closer to you? Once you discern that these truths are of value to you, allow the will of our Heavenly Father to become dominant and transcendent in your heart. And then, as transformed spirit-led faith sons and daughters of God, let us join hands in spiritual unity with all other Urantia Book believers, and as universe cosmic-conscious citizens let us go forth to transform the world.
Those who confess their faith in the Fatherhood of God certainly recognize the spiritual brotherhood of all humankind. With The Urantia Book as our guide along with our personal religious experiences we have the opportunity and potential to spiritually uplift our planet and establish worldwide peace under law.
