Introduction
There are a number of things which make Urantia different from all other inhabited planets, but almost all of them are the result of one or more of four main causes. These four causes are:
In my opinion, these are the four main causes for most of our irregularities.

- Origin of our solar system
This is one of the unusual things about our planet which cannot be attributed to the four causes I just named. Our sun was one of the last of the suns to come from the great Andronover nebula. It was born at the end of the terminal break-up about 6 billion years ago. “Today, your sun has achieved relative stability, but its eleven and one-half year sunspot cycles betray that it was a variable star in its youth. In the early days of your sun the continued contraction and consequent gradual increase of temperature initiated tremendous convulsions on its surface. These titanic heaves required three and one-half days to complete a cycle of varying brightness. This variable state, this periodic pulsation, rendered your sun highly responsive to certain outside influences which were to be shortly encountered.” “Thus was the stage of local space set for the unique origin of Monmatia, that being the name of your sun’s planetary family, the solar system to which your world belongs. Less than one percent of the planetary systems of Orvonton have had a similar origin.” P. 655.
4,500,000,000 years ago the enormous Angona system approached our sun which was in a pulsating state at the time. “Some of the variable stars, in or near the state of maximum pulsation, are in process of giving origin to subsidiary systems, many of which will eventually be much like your own sun and its revolving planets. Your sun was in just such a state of mighty pulsation when the massive Angona system swung into near approach, and the outer surface of the sun began to erupt veritable streams – continuous sheets – of matter. This kept up with ever-increasing violence until nearest apposition, when the limits of solar cohesion were reached and a vast pinnacle of matter, the ancestor of the solar system, was disgorged…” “The majority of solar systems, however, had an origin entirely different from yours, and this is true even of those which were produced by gravity-tidal technique.” P. 465, 466.
It is most unusual to have a pre-colored race before the colored races begin to appear. In our case this was the Andonites who lived on the earth 500,000 years before any colored races appeared. “There were many unique features of the Urantia Life experiment, but the two outstanding episodes were the appearance of the Andonic race prior to the evolution of the six colored peoples and the later simultaneous appearance of the Sangik mutants in a single family.” P. 735. “The appearance of the earlier Andonites on Urantia was also something new in Satania. On no other world I the local system has such a race of will creatures evolved in advance of the evolutionary races of color.” P. 722, 723. (Cause – decimal planet)
“On Urantia the endeavors of the Life Carriers to improve the Satania life patterns necessarily resulted in the production of many apparently useless forms of transition life. But the gains already accrued are sufficient to justify the Urantia modifications of the standard life designs.” “It was our intention to produce an early manifestation of will in the evolutionary life of Urantia, and we succeeded. Ordinarily, will does not emerge until the colored races have long been in existence, usually first appearing among the superior types of the red man. Your world is the only planet in Satania where the human type of will has appeared in a pre-colored race.” P. 736. (Cause – decimal planet.)
Urantia differs from all other worlds in Satania regarding the evolution of the colored races. Normally, one color appears at a time, starting with the red, followed a long time later by the orange, then the blue, and so on. But on Urantia all six colors appeared in one family. Let’s start with the normal procedure. “From the time of man’s emergence from the animal level – when he can choose to worship the Creator – to the arrival of the Planetary Prince, mortal will creatures are call primitive men. There are six basic types or races of primitive man, and these early peoples successively appear in the order of the spectrum colors, beginning with the red. The length of time consumed in this early life evolution varies greatly on different worlds, ranging from one hundred and fifty thousand years to over one million years of Urantia time.” “The evolutionary races of color – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and indigo – begin to appear about the time that primitive man is developing a simple language and is beginning to exercise the creative imagination. By this time man is well accustomed to standing erect.” P. 589.
“On an average evolutionary planet the six evolutionary races of color appear one by one; the red man is the first to evolve, and for ages he roams the world before the succeeding colored races make their appearances. The simultaneous emergency of all six races on Urantia, and in one family, was most unusual.” P. 722. “Urantia is the first world in Satania where the six colored races sprang frmo the same human family. They ordinarily arise in diversified strains from independent mutations within the pre-human animal stock and usually appear on earth one at a time and successively over long periods of time, beginning with the red man and passing on down through the colors to indigo.” P. 735.
“The race of dominance during the early ages of the inhabited worlds is the red man, who ordinarily is the first to attain human levels of development. But while the red man is the senior race of the planets, the succeeding colored peoples begin to make their appearances very early in the age of mortal emergence.” P. 584. “On those worlds having all six evolutionary races the superior peoples are the first, third, and fifth races – the red, the yellow, and the blue. The evolutionary races thus alternate in capacity for intellectual growth and spiritual development, the second, fourth, and sixth being somewhat less endowed.
These secondary races are the peoples that are missing on certain worlds; they are the ones that have been exterminated on many others. It is a misfortune on Urantia that you so largely lost your superior blue men, except as they persist in your amalgamated ‘white race.’ “ …” “The evolution of six – or of three – colored races, while seeming to deteriorate the original endowment of the red man, provides certain very desirable variations in mortal types and affords an otherwise unattainable expression of diverse human potentials. These modifications are beneficial to the progress of mankind as a whole provided they are subsequently up-stepped by the imported Adamic or violet race.
On Urantia this usual plan of amalgamation was not extensively carried out, and this failure to execute the plan of evolution makes it impossible on an average inhabited planet by observing the remnants of these early races on your world.” P. 561. “But on Urantia, instead of this normal, orderly plan for the appearance of the colored races, staring with the red, and going through the orange, yellow, green, blue, and indigo, about 500,000 years ago, suddenly in one family and in one generation the six colored races mutated from the aboriginal human stock. (P. 701)
This was the Sangik family and they were part of the Andonite race, the pre-colored, which had lived here for 500,000 years.” “The Sangik family was one of about 100 families on the Badonan tribe in the Northwestern highlands of India. This family produced 19 unusually intelligent children. Apparently they were all the same color when they were born, probably swarthy, but on exposure to sunlight the skin changed color and the colors became more pronounced as they grew older. They ended up as 5 red, 2 orange, 4 yellow, 2 green, 4 blue, and 2 indigo. When they mated with their fellow tribesmen, all the children tended toward the skin color of the Sangik parent.” [p. 722.) And that’s how our six colored races began. (Cause – decimal planet)
“The eighth race on Urantia, the Nodites, resulted from the sexual reproduction of the 60 rebel members of the Prince’s corporeal staff who carried the Andonite germ plasm and the 44 Andonites who followed the staff into rebellion and who carried the organic complement of the tree of life so that they had the Satania life currents in their bodies. These two groups mated among themselves (separately apparently) but the results were unexpected. Naturally it would be expected that the progeny would altogether resemble the offspring of other Andonite parents. But the children were far superior to othe Andonite and Sangik peoples, not only physically and intellectually, but also spiritually. The offspring of these two groups made up the beginning of the magnificent race of Nodites. This was one of the unforeseen developments of the modified life patterns, but of course it came about because of the rebellion.” P. 957.“Uranita is not without proper and effective supervision from the system, constellation, and universe rulers. But the planetary government is unlike that of any other world in the Satania system, even in all Nebadon. - Arrival of the Planetary Prince
“Another outstanding variation of procedure was the late arrival of the Planetary Prince. As a rule, the prince appears on a planet about the time of will development; and if such a plan had been followed, Caligastia might have come to Urantia even during the lifetimes of Andon and Fonta instead of almost five hundred thousand years later, simultaneously with the appearance of the six Sangik races.” P. 735. “On an ordinary inhabited world a Planetary Prince would have been granted on the request of the Life Carriers at, or sometime after, the appearance of Andon and Fonta.
But Urantia having been designated a life-modification planet, it was by pre-agreement that the Melchizedek overseers, twelve in number, were sent as advisers to the Life Carriers and as overseers of the planet until the subsequent arrival of the Planetary Prince. These Melchizedeks came at the time Andon and Fonta made the decisions which enabled Thought Adjusters to indwell their mortal minds.” P. 735. “Within one hundred thousand years from the time man acquires erect posture, the Planetary Prince usually arrives, having been dispatched by the System Sovereign upon the report of the Life Carriers that will is functioning, even though comparatively few individuals have thus developed.
Primitive mortals usually welcome the Planetary Princes and his visible staff; in fact, they often look upon them with awe and reverence, almost with worshipfulness, if they are not restrained.” P. 590 “The advent of a Lanonandek Son on an average world signifies that will, the ability to choose the path of eternal survival, has developed in the mind of primitive man. But on Urantia the Planetary Prince arrived almost half a million years after the appearance of human will.” “About five hundred thousand years ago and concurrent with the appearance of the six colored or Sangik races, Caligastia, the Planetary Prince, arrived on Urantia. There were almost one-half billion primitive human beings on earth at the time of the Prince’s arrival, and they were well scattered over Europe, Asia, and Africa. The Prince’s headquarters, established in Mesopotamia was at about the center of world population.” P. 741. (Cause – decimal planet)
“On a normal world, the Planetary Prince would arrive as soon as will appeared, meaning the first two real human beings. And he would have an assistant, another secondary Lanonandek Son, a lot of angelic assistants, and other assistants, plus a visible staff of mortals. And this regime would continue indefinitely. Eventually, an Adam and Eve would come to up-step the mortal races biologically, and there would be two famous world centers, one for the Planetary Prince and one for the Material Son and Daughter.” “But Urantia is different. 550,000,000 years ago – life was planted by Life Carriers. (p. 667) From then until the appearance of will, they were in charge of the planet, but Melchizedeks and the adjutant mind-spirits were also present. 1,000,000 years ago – First humans. Planetary Prince should have come, but didn’t.
Instead, 12 Melchizedek observers were sent as advisers to the 2 Senior Life Carriers and 12 assistants who were left here, and as overseers of the planet until the subsequent arrival of the Planetary Prince. P. 735 500,000 years ago – Arrival of Planetary Prince and staff. Normal for 300,000 year. 200,000 years ago – Caligastia rebellion. For the first seven years, the 2 Senior Life Carriers assumed temporary leadership of Van’s council of 40 loyal members of Prince’s staff. P. 759. Then 12 emergency Melchizedek receivers arrived, confirmed by the Senior Most High of Norlatiadek. P. 759.
Van held titular authority on the planet, by virtue of action by the Melchizedek receivers. P. 830. 37,000 years ago – Adam and Eve arrived, and were installed as rulers of Urantia. P. 830. But apparently didn’t take full charge right away. For seven years later the Melchizedek receivers turned the administration of the planet over to them and left, taking Van and Amadon. P 833. 117 years later – Adam defaulted. P. 838. Seventy days after the default the same 12 Melchizedek receivers came back and took charge. P. 844. It was one of these 12, Machiventa Melchizedek, who incarnated as a human about 4000 years ago. 25 A.D. – Michael became Planetary Prince of Urantia (on Mount Hermon). P. 1014, and p. 11512.
But presumably the Melchizedek receivers remained in charge until the first Resident Governor General arrived on Pentecost. P. 1254. 30 A.D. – The Council of 24 (all Urantians) was completed when Michael was resurrected on Urantia. P. 513 and 1251. On Pentecost the first Resident Governor General arrived to take charge of the government on Urantia. P. 1254. He was one of the 24. Office is changed every 100 years. Presumably the Melchizedek receivers left at that time. P. 1251. Recently – Machiventa Melchizedek has been appointed Vicegerent Planetary Prince, but has made no move to take over. He is one of the Council of 24 and has been here (about 1000 years ago) as Resident Governor General. P. 1251.
Normally, a planet would be responsible primarily only to the system government, having very little to do with the constellation government. But here again we are different. ”Your great interest would normally center in the local system, Satania; but temporarily, Urantia is closely related to the constellation rulers because of certain system and planetary conditions growing out of the Lucifer rebellion.” “The Edentia Most Highs seized certain phases of planetary authority on the rebellious worlds at the time of the Lucifer secession.
They have continued to exercise this power, and the Ancients of Days long since confirmed this assumption of control over these wayward worlds. They will no doubt continue to exercise this assumed jurisdiction as long as Lucifer lives. Much of the authority would ordinarily, in a loyal system, be invested in the System Sovereign.” But there is still another way in which Urantia became peculiarly related to the Most Highs. When Michael, the Creator Son, was on his terminal bestowal mission, since the successor of Lucifer was not it full authority in the local system, all Urantia affairs which concerned the Michael bestowal were immediately supervised by the Most Highs of Norlatiadek.” P. 489.
There are a number of Vorondadek Sons in the cabinet of the Most Highs of Norlatiadek who are there because of the rebellion and so are concerned with us. But one special one is concerned solely with us (not the other isolated worlds) for several reasons. This is one of the 12 in the cabinet.
And this leads naturally into our next point. (Cause – rebellion and bestowal)
- “The Most High mediator, the Vorondadek Son assigned to harmonize the special bestowal adjustments on Urantia with the routine administration of the constellation. The presence of certain archangel activities and numerous other irregular ministrations on Urantia, together with the special activities of the Brilliant Evening Stars on Jerusem, necessitates the functioning of this Son.” P. 471.
You will remember that archangels are not under the jurisdiction of Gabriel normally, and are not concerned with the routine administration of the local universe. Their main business is dedication to the work of creature survival and to the furtherance of the ascending career of the mortals of time and space. P. 408. The roll call at the end of a dispensation is promulgated by an archangel – an Archangel of the Resurrection. P. 409. “Among the many things difficult to understand concerning the future government of Urantia, a prominent one is the location of the planet of a circuit and divisional headquarters of the archangels.” P. 1259.
“The archangel corps of Nebadon is directed by the first-born of this order, and in more recent times a divisional headquarters of the archangels ahs been maintained on Urantia. It is this unusual fact that soon arrests the attention of extra-Nebadon student visitors. Among their early observations of intra-universe transactions is the discovery that many ascendant activities of the Brilliant Evening Stars are directed from the capital of a local system, Satania. On further examination they discover that certain archangel activities are directed from a small and apparently insignificant inhabited world called Urantia.
And then ensues the revelation of Michael’s bestowal on Urantia and their immediately quickened interest in you and your lowly sphere.” “Do you grasp the significance of the fact that your lowly and confused planet has become a divisional headquarters for the universe administration and direction of certain archangel activities having to do with the Paradise ascension scheme? This undoubtedly presages the future concentration of other ascendant activities on the bestowal world of Michael and lends a tremendous and solemn import to the Master’s personal promise, ‘I will come again.’ " p. 408, 409.
“From Salvington, broadcasts are simultaneously directed to the constellation headquarters, the system headquarters, and to individual planets. All higher orders of celestial beings are able to utilize this service for communication with their fellows scattered throughout the universe. The universe broadcast is extended to all inhabited worlds regardless of their spiritual status. Planetary intercommunication is denied only those worlds under spiritual quarantine.” P. 371. “Rebellion by a Planetary Prince instantly isolates his planet; the local spiritual circuits are immediately severed.
Only a bestowal Son can re-establish interplanetary lines of communication on such a spiritually isolated world.” P. 394. This is what happened to Urantia. Our circuits were cut 200,000 years ago. All have not been restored, but when Jesus was resurrected, an archangel circuit was installed and a divisional headquarters established, which somewhat relieves the situation, for that circuit can be used by certain other personalities in an emergency. The circuit of the archangels then operated for the first time from Urantia. Gabriel and the archangel hosts moved to the place of the spiritual polarity of the planet; and when Gabriel gave the signal, there flashed to the first of the system mansion worlds the voice of Gabriel, saying: ‘By the mandate of Michael, let the dead of a Urantia dispensation rise.’ “ . 2024. The spirits themselves aren’t unique. They are on every evolutionary world, right from the very start. But they had a great deal of trouble on this world – due to the experimental life pattern. “The seven adjutant spirits are more circuit-like than entity-like, and on ordinary worlds they are encircuited with other adjutant functionings throughout the local universe. On life-experiment planets, however, they are relatively isolated. And on Urantia, owing to the unique nature of the life patterns, the lower adjutants experienced far more difficulty in contacting with the evolutionary organisms than would have been the case in a more standardized type of life endowment.”
“Again, on an average evolutionary world the seven adjutant spirits are far better synchronized with the advancing stages of animal development than they were on Urantia. With but a single exception, the adjutants experienced the greatest difficulty in contacting with the evolving minds of Urantia organisms that they had ever had in all their functioning throughout the universe of Nebadon. On this world there developed many forms of border phenomena – confusional combinations of the mechanical-non-teachable and the non-mechanical-teachable types of organismal response.” P. 738. There are two distinguishing points wherein Urantia midwayers are different from midwayers on other planets – their method of origin and their function. And I would consider both of these the result of the rebellion and the Adamic default, rather than due to the life patterns. Midwayers are a unique group of beings existing on a life-functioning level about midway between those of the mortals of the realms and the angelic orders. They seem to be an accident of time, but they appear on most of the inhabited worlds of Nebadon, so that’s not really unique. But their genesis was a unique inter-association of the material and the spiritual on Urantia. All other primary midwayers originated by different techniques.
The Primaries came into existence by a super-matieral (nonsexual) liaison of a male and a female member of the Prince’s corporeal staff. And the 50 couples produced 50,000 primary midwayers. P. 855. “Secondary midwayers, the more material group of these creatures, vary greatly in numbers on the different worlds, though the average is around fifty thousand. They are variously derived from the planetary biologic uplifters, the Adams and Eves, or from their immediate progeny. There are no less than twenty-four diverse techniques involved in the production of these secondary midway creatures on the evolutionary worlds of space. The mode of origin for this group on Urantia was unusual and extraordinary.” P. 424. The secondary midwayers came from pure-line Adamic stock (Adamson) and pure-line Nodite stock (rebellious members of Prince’s corporeal staff) (Ratta). Their 67 strange children who could become invisible at times produced almost 2000 secondary midwayers by a combined technique of sex and non-sex liaison.
Such a phenomenon was never possible on earth before that time and it has never occurred since. P. 862. The midwayers’ function on normal worlds is different than it is here. Primary midwayers usually act as intelligence corps and serve the Planetary Prince, while the secondary midwayers are attached to the Adamic regime. “In case of the defection of the Planetary Prince and the failure of the Material Son, as occurred on Urantia, the midway creatures become the wards of the System Sovereign and serve under the directing guidance of the acting custodian of the planet. But on only three other worlds in Satania do these beings function as one group under unified leadership as do the united midway ministers of Urantia.” P. 425. Here they function as messengers, sentinels and observers, contact personalities, and progress helpers, working with seraphim, especially destiny guardians. Their chief work today is as personal-liaison associates of the reserve corps of destiny. P. 865. (Cause rebellion – default)
About 4000 years ago the Melchizedek receivers knew the concept of God was very hazy in mortal minds and also knew that Michael was coming here on his last bestowal, but didn’t know when. They appealed to the Most Highs of Edentia for help, but were turned down. Then to the Father Melchizedek, who also put them on their own. “And it was in consequence of having been thrown so completely on their own resources that Machiventa Melchizedek, one of the twelve planetary receivers, volunteered to do that which had been done only six times in all the history of Nebadon: to personalize on earth as a temporary man of the realm, to bestow himself as an emergency Son of world ministry.
Permission was granted for this adventure by the Salvington authorities, and the actual incarnation of Machiventa Melchizedek was consummated near what was to become the city of Salem, in Palestine. The entire transaction of the materialization of this Melchizedek Son was completed by the planetary receivers with the cooperation of the Life Carriers, certain of the Master Physical Controllers, and other celestial personalities resident on Urantia.” P. 1014 “Machiventa Melchizedek is now on the Council of 24, and was recently appointed vicegerent Planetary Prince of Urantia. He may come sometime as the Planetary Prince. “If our conjectures in this respect are correct, it is altogether possible that Machiventa Melchizedek may again appear in person on Urantia and in some modified manner resume the role of the dethroned Planetary Prince, or else appear on earth to function as vicegerent Planetary Prince representing Christ Michael, who now actually holds the title of Planetary Prince of Urantia…”
“We well understand how, by his triumph on Urantia, Michael became the successor of both Caligastia and Adam; how he became the planetary Prince of Peace and the second Adam. And now we behold the conferring upon this Melchizedek of the title Vicegerent Planetary Prince of Urantia. Will he also be constituted Vicegerent Material Son of Urantia? Or is there a possibility that an unexpected and unprecedented event is to take place, the sometime return to the planet of Adam and Eve or certain of their progeny as representatives of Michael with the titles vicegerents of the second Adam of Urantia?
“And all these speculations associated with the certainty of future appearances of both Magisterial and Trinity Teacher Sons, in conjunction with the explicit promise of the Creator Son to return sometime, make Urantia a planet of future uncertainty and render it one of the most interesting and intriguing spheres in all the universe of Nebadon. It is altogether possible that, in some future age when Urantia is approaching the era of light and life, after the affairs of the Lucifer rebellion and the Caligastia secession have been finally adjudicated, we may witness the presence on Urantia, simultaneously, of Machiventa, Adam, Eve, and Christ Michael, as well as either a Magisterial Son or even Trinity Teacher Sons.” P. 1025.
“When a certain standard of intellectual and spiritual development is attained on an inhabited world, a Paradise Bestowal Son always arrives. On normal worlds he does not appear in the flesh until the races have ascended to the highest levels of intellectual development and ethical attainment. But on Urantia the Bestowal Son, even your own Creator Son, appeared at the close of the Adamic dispensation, but that is not the usual order of events on the worlds of space.” P. 595.
We have had many disasters on this world, but we’ve also had some real dividends. “Misfortune has not, however, been the sole lot of Urantia; this planet has also been the most fortunate in the local universe of Nebadon. Urantians should count it all gain if the blunders of their ancestors and the mistakes of their early world rulers so plunged the planet into such a hopeless state of confusion, all the more confounded by evil and sin, that this very background of darkness should so appeal to Michael of Nebadon that he selected this world as the arena wherein to reveal the loving personality of the Father in heaven.
It is not that Urantia needed a Creator Son to set its tangled affairs in order; it is rather that the evil and sin on Urantia afforded the Creator Son a more striking background against which to reveal the matchless love, mercy, and patience of the Paradise Father.” P. 853. We have indeed been fortunate. Out of 10,000,000 inhabited worlds, only one world can be host to the Creator Son on his final bestowal mission and we were lucky enough to be that world. And this will always be true. This world will always be very special because Michael lived here. “Understanding more about the bestowal Sons, you discern why so much interest attaches to Urantia in the history of Nebadon. Your small and insignificant planet is of local universe concern simply because it is the mortal home world of Jesus of Nazareth. It was the scene of the final and triumphant bestowal of your Creator Son, the arena in which Michael won the supreme personal sovereignty of the universe of Nebadon.”
“At the headquarters of His local universe, A Creator Son, especially after the completion of His own mortal bestowal, spends much of His time in counseling and instructing the college of associate Sons, the Magisterial Sons and others. In love and devotion, with tender mercy and affectionate consideration, these Magisterial Sons bestow themselves upon the worlds of space. And in no way are these planetary services inferior to the mortal bestowals of the Michaels. It is true that your Creator Son selected for the realm of his final adventure in creature experience one which had had unusual misfortunes. But no planet could ever be in such a condition that it would require the bestowal of a Creator Son to effect its spiritual rehabilitation. Any Son of the bestowal group would have equally sufficed, for in all their work on the worlds of a local universe the Magisterial Sons are just as divinely effective and all wise as would have been their Paradise brother, the Creator Son.” P. 228.
The manner of Jesus’ death is another way in which Urantia is different from other worlds – and not in a creditable way. “When the bestowal Sons, Creator or Magisterial, enter the portals of death, they reappear on the third day. But you should not entertain the idea that they always meet with the tragic end encountered by the Creator Son who sojourned on your world nineteen hundred years ago. The extraordinary and unusually cruel experience through which Jesus of Nazareth passed has caused Urantia to become locally known as ‘the world of the cross.’ It is not necessary that such inhuman treatment be accorded a Son of God, and the vast majority of planets have afforded them a more considerate reception, allowing them to finish their mortal careers, terminate the age, adjudicate the sleeping survivors, and inaugurate a new dispensation, without imposing a violent death. A Bestowal Son must encounter death, must pass through the whole of the actual experience of mortals of the realm, but it is not a requirement of the divine plan that this death be either violent or unusual.” P. 229.
The order of the dispensations of the Sons who minister to our planet has been upset and no one can predict what will happen next. Normally, following the Adamic dispensation, we should have an Avonal Son on a magisterial mission. Then would come the Bestowal Son. Normally, following the Bestowal Son, “The Sons of the next order to arrive on the average evolutionary world are the Trinity Teacher Sons, the divine Sons of the Paradise Trinity. Again we find Urantia out of step with its sister spheres in that your Jesus has promised to return. That promise he will certainly fulfill, but no one knows whether his second coming will precede or follow the appearances of Magisterial or Teacher Sons on Urantia.” P. 598.
The last subject I have under the heading of ministry – The Urantia Book. On no other planet is there a book ministering to its people exactly like this one. It’s barely possible that some other isolated planet might have a book similar in concept to help the mortals who have no visible celestial beings on the planet to help them. But we can be sure this book is written especially for us. And we can be extremely thankful to the midwayers that this book appeared in our lifetime so that we all can have a part in this very exciting experience. If it hadn’t been for the midwayers, we wouldn’t have had the book – at least at this time. This was part of their ministry. “It was the work of this secondary group, ably seconded by certain of the primary corps, that brought about the coordination of personalities and circumstances on Urantia which finally induced the planetary celestial supervisors to initiate those petitions that resulted in the granting of the mandates making possible the series of revelations of which this presentation is a part.” P. 865.
- Social Evolution
“The problems associated with human existence on Urantia are impossible of understanding without a knowledge of certain great epochs of the past, notably the occurrence and consequences of the planetary rebellion. Although this upheaval did not seriously interfere with the progress of organic evolution, it did markedly modify the course of social evolution and of spiritual development. The entire super-physical history of the planet was profoundly influenced by this devastating calamity.” P. 754.
Let’s take just a brief look at some of the ways in which Urantia differs from normal worlds. “On a normal planet the arrival of the Material Son would ordinarily herald the approach of a great age of invention, material progress, and intellectual enlightenment. The post-Adamic era is the great scientific age of most worlds, but not so on Urantia. Though the planet was peopled by races physically fit, the tribes languished in the depths of savagery and moral stagnation” “Ten thousand years after the rebellion practically all the gains of the Prince’s administration had been effaced; the races of the world were little better off than if this misguided Son had never come to Urantia. Only among the Nodites and the Amadonites was there persistence of the traditions of Dalamatia and the culture of the Planetary Prince.” P. 821.
After Adam and Eve have come, there should be two centers of culture – 2 sets of schools – which go on and on and on. “On normal worlds the garden headquarters of the violet race becomes the second center of world culture and, jointly with the headquarters city of the Planetary Prince, sets the pace for the development of civilization. For centuries the city headquarters schools of the Planetary Prince and the garden schools of Adam and Eve are contemporary. They are usually not very far a part, and they work together in harmonious cooperation. “Think what it would mean on your world if somewhere in the Levant there were a world center of civilization, a great planetary university of culture, which had functioned uninterruptedly for 37,000 years.
And again, pause to consider how the moral authority of even such an ancient center would be reinforced were there situated not far-distant still another and older headquarters of celestial ministry whose traditions would exert a cumulative force of 500,000 years of integrated evolutionary influence. It is a custom which eventually spreads the ideals of Eden to a whole world. “The schools of the Planetary Prince are primarily concerned with philosophy, religion, morals, and the higher intellectual and artistic achievements. The garden schools of Adam and Eve are usually devoted to practical arts, fundamental intellectual training, social culture, economic development, trade relations, physical efficiency, and civil government. Eventually these world centers amalgamate, but this actual affiliation sometimes does not occur until the times of the first Magisterial Son.” P. 586, 578. Our Adamic age wasn’t what it was supposed to be.
The next one should have been a Magisterial Son are – and we didn’t have that one at all. Instead, we got Michael, the Bestowal Son. But the post-bestowal Son age which we’re in now, is not at all as it should be. “The Bestowal Son is the Prince of Peace. He arrives with the message, ‘Peace on earth and good will among men.’ On normal worlds this is a dispensation of worldwide peace; the nations no more learn war. But such salutary influences did not attend the coming of your Bestowal Son, Christ Michael. Urantia is not proceeding in the normal order. Your world is out of step in the planetary procession. Your Master, when on earth, warned his disciples that his advent would not bring the usual reign of peace on Urantia. He distinctly told them that there would be ‘wars and rumors of wars,’ and that nation would rise against nation. At another time he said, ‘Think not that I have come to bring peace upon earth.’ “
“Even on normal evolutionary worlds the realization of the worldwide brotherhood of man is not an easy accomplishment. On a confused and disordered planet like Urantia such an achievement requires a much longer time and necessitates far greater effort. Unaided social evolution can hardly achieve such happy results on a spiritually isolated sphere. Religious revelation is essential to the realization of brotherhood on Urantia. While Jesus has shown the way to the immediate attainment of spiritual brotherhood, the realization of social brotherhood on your world depends much on the achievement of the following personal transformations and planetary adjustments:
“If you could be transplanted from your backward and confused world to some normal planet now in the post-bestowal Son age, you would think you had been translated to the heaven of your traditions. You would hardly believe that you were observing the normal evolutionary workings of a mortal sphere of human habitation. These worlds are in the spiritual circuits of their realm, and they enjoy all the advantages of the universe broadcasts and the reflectivity services of the super-universe.” P. 597, 598.

In spite of all the things that have gone wrong on this world and the hardships that we mortals have had to put up with – like no visible superhuman beings on the planet, no permanent Prince or Adamic school, isolation from universe circuits, physical diseases, etc. – in spite of all these things, we can be sure that we are not forgotten, that we do have tender loving care from the ministering spirits, that the Father loves us and we all have Thought Adjusters, and that not one person suffers spiritually. “The confusion and turmoil of Urantia do not signify that the Paradise Rulers lack either interest or ability to manage affairs differently. The Creators are possessed of full power to make Urantia a veritable paradise, but such an Eden would not contribute to the development of those strong, noble, and experienced characters which the Gods are so surely forging out on your world between the anvils of necessity and the hammers of anguish. Your anxieties and sorrows, your trials and disappointments, are just as much a part of the divine plan on your sphere as are the exquisite perfection and infinite adaptation of all things to their supreme purpose on the worlds of the central and perfect universe.” P. 258.
“Sin and rebellion may interfere with the operation of local universe circuits, but nothing can suspend the spirit gravity of the Eternal Son. The Lucifer rebellion produced many changes in your system of inhabited worlds and on Urantia, but we do not observe that the resultant spiritual quarantine of your planet in the least affected the presence and function of either the omnipresent spirit of the Eternal Son or the associated spirit-gravity circuit.” P. 82.
“Sin on Urantia did very little to delay biologic evolution, but it did operate to deprive the mortal races of the full benefit of the Adamic inheritance. Sin enormously retards intellectual development, moral growth, social progress, and mass spiritual attainment. But it does not prevent the highest spiritual achievement by any individual who chooses to know God and sincerely do His Divine Will. “Caligastia rebelled, Adam and Eve did default, but no mortal subsequently born on Urantia has suffered in his personal spiritual experience because of these blunders. Every mortal born on Urantia since Caligastia’s rebellion has been in some manner time-penalized, but the future welfare of such souls has never been in the least eternity-jeopardized. No person is ever made to suffer vital spiritual deprivation because of the sin of another. Sin is wholly personal as to moral guilt or spiritual consequences, notwithstanding its far-flung repercussions in administrative, intellectual, and social domains.” P. 761.
“Your isolated world is not forgotten in the counsels of the universe. Urantia is not a cosmic orphan stigmatized by sin and shut away from divine watch-care by rebellion. From Uversa to Salvington and on down to Jerusem, even in Havona and on Paradise, they all know we are here; and you mortals now dwelling on Urantia are just as lovingly cherished and just as faithfully watched over as if the sphere had never been betrayed by a faithless Planetary Prince, even more so. It is eternally true, ‘The Father himself loves you.’ “ P. 1259
