E X E R C I S E:
MUTUAL RESPECT DISCIPLINING
Buk and Arlene Weimer
IC05

1.    Separate into groups of 3 (or pairs).

2.    Choose roles (parents, age specific child).

3.    Select which broke rule to address.

4.    Follow the steps until a mutual agreement is achieved.

(If the child refuses to negotiate, they must abide by the

 parents decision.)

5.    After the mutual agreement, talk with the child about the

repercussions of their behavior on others - not in a guilty

way, but in a way to elicit empathy.

Possible issues to address:  broke curfew, cleaning room, marijuana in room, didn't do chores, mistreated sibling, misused of television (computer, etc.), didn't tell the truth, etc.

As the Parent, I experienced this level of respect:

                               0                    1                    2                    3                    4

                   no respect                                                                           full respect

As the Child, I experienced this level of respect:

                               0                    1                    2                    3                    4

                   no respect                                                                           full respect
