March 13, 2000Dear Georges,
Representatives from The Fellowship will be happy to meet with your committee to discuss your copyright and trademark concerns. The dates you suggest April 9 or 10, 2000 are fine. We suggest either New York or Chicago for the location. How much time do you think we need? Please contact me as soon as possible so we can arrange for a meeting location and finalize details.
As you know, some time ago The Fellowship requested an extended meeting with the five Trustees of Urantia Foundation to discuss a wide range of important matters of mutual concern to our organizations, to the revelation, and to believers of good will everywhere. Speaking for Urantia Foundation, you have repeatedly rejected this request and instead insisted on having a quite different meeting with a committee, chaired by you, and appointed by the Foundation, to discuss copyright and trademark matters with the Fellowship. While we respect your committee's concerns about copyright and trademark issues, they address only one facet of a larger and much-needed discussion.
Please understand that we cannot consider your proposed April meeting to be responsive to our long standing request for a meeting with the Trustees. We are happy to agree to participate in your proposed meeting because you have asked for it and we believe itimportant for both of our organizations, whenever possible, to meet requests that can helppromote mutual understanding and cooperation. We only ask that the five Trustees of Urantia Foundation accord equal consideration to our request for a meeting with them.
To summarize, we are respectfully repeating our request to meet with the five Trustees of Urantia Foundation. As we in good faith agree to meet with you as you have asked, so do we now once again ask Urantia Foundation to grant our request to meet with the Trustees. We are convinced such a meeting is essential to foster goodwill and cooperation between our two organizations, and to prevent further and unnecessary misunderstandings.
We would greatly appreciate early confirmation of the Trustees' willingness to meet with us. Because our acceptance of your April invitation involves matters beyond those specifically assigned to your committee, copies are being sent to Urantia Foundation, and to each of the Trustees individually.
We look forward to meeting with your committee April 9 or 10th, and to the subsequent meeting with all Trustees on another date, perhaps in May of this year.
Sincerely,
