Instructions for using
The Urantia Book
Student's Reference System
In the Fellowship's online study materials you will
find sentences with reference markers similar to the following:
"In science God is regarded as a cause, in philosophy an ultimate reality, and in religion as a loving Father." (59:3)[4:4.7]
This contains a hyperlinked reference to the text of The Urantia Book.
The portion in parentheses, (59:3),
is Page:Paragraph numbering for reference to the Urantia Foundation edition
of the text. The portion in brackets, [4:4.7],
is Paper:Section.Paragraph notation as used in early study aids of the Forum
and the Uversa Press edition of The Urantia Book. Both references are
linked to the same paragraphs in the online reference text. Urantia Foundation's
parentheses reference may not always be accurate as some authors start numbering
from the first indented paragraph on the page while others consider the first
line on the page to be the first paragraph. When you click on one of these
hyperlinked references, you will get a page which looks like the following:
P59:3, 4:4.7 In science, God is the First Cause; in religion, the universal and loving Father; in philosophy, the one being who exists by himself, not dependent on any other being for existence but beneficently conferring reality of existence on all things and upon all other beings. But it requires revelation to show that the First Cause of science and the self-existent Unity of philosophy are the God of religion, full of mercy and goodness and pledged to effect the eternal survival of his children on earth. |
Note that on this new page the paragraph reference numbers look like the one shown here: |
