This is the opportunity to initiate an introductory class to be held at churches, community centers, clubhouses, etc. It is promoted by advertising in a free paper, on Craigslist or on Meetup.com.
Q - What qualifications would those volunteers have?
A - They need to have the ability to research their area for the availability of a location and resources to get a introductory class together. They need to be able to discuss the various concepts in the Urantia Book with some ease and present it in an organized way. We can help you with this! We are NOT trying to recruit anyone but rather develop relationships.
As an example, the website meetup.com has been used to effectively advertise a Urantia Book introductory workshop. It's so simple to set up and maintain. Once you've done an introductory session, a Urantia Book study group can be easily formed or new readers can be added to an existing group.

The UB study-buddies project
Being personally available to new readers is the purpose and goal of the project. We hope for new readers to have a friend they can talk with about the book one to one.
It's about building relationships with new readers. (read more…)
We are encouraging people to try new and unique ways of studying the book together. Since the age of communication and technology is here there are a lot of ways to be creative! Buck Weimer and Jo Ann Wiedman have been playing with some experimental study group formats and here are a few ideas they are working with:
INTERNATIONAL
People in other countries and in the USA need experienced mentors as they are just starting to read the book. If you are multi -lingual you are especially needed!
Please consider becoming an experienced mentor/ coach/ friend as-needed, for one to one conversations about the Urantia Book with people who are new to the concepts and teachings.
Suggestions:
Become E-mail buddies or
Set up a time and day to have a study group where some are joining in via phone that can be placed on 'speaker' or
Use Skype to have an online video study group.
Or all of the above
DOMESTIC
Being a study buddy to someone in your city or area could mean meeting a new reader in a coffee shop, or where-ever....to encourage them in their study, to enjoy some of that new-reader enthusiasm, to be a good listener.
E-mail buddies or skype buddies works well if there is no-one nearby for them to meet in person. Your mission, should you accept it, is to become a friend to a new reader. Eventually bringing them to a study group would be an ideal outcome, when they feel comfortable with the prospect of meeting a group of readers who have been studying together for a while. We believe we can draw more wonderful people into our study groups and Fellowship by showing ourselves to be friendly!
