The statement that shrimp, crabs, and lobsters existed as marine life 360,000,000 years ago -- the date given in the previous paragraph -- is at odds with current scientific opinion, which holds that "true" decapods-shrimps, crabs, crayfish, and lobsters, did not appear until the Permian (280 to 225 million years ago). Possibly this reference refers to some of the varied fauna of Crustacea which have been discovered in the Canadian Rockies as early as the middle Cambrian, believed to be some 535 million years ago.
